Summer roundup

Published on Tuesday, 2nd June 2015

The result of late summer pro-testing and reviews of some superb disc-equipped bikes in the various mags, the disc-phenomenon has hit with a vengeance here.

The technology might not be too relevant to most Pro riders but from a safety point of view for the inevitable hard braking in the mountains on carbon rims, we welcome the progress.

Keeping ahead of the game hopefully, we've launched disc versions of all the wheelsets in the lineup.........

Rim widths

These new 50mm and 60mm wider U-shaped rims we have may present some fitment issues for a small number of road and triathlon frames. The clearance between the chainstay and the rim may not be adequate to avoid contact between each other when ridden under load. Zipp 303 Firecrest style rim unleashed

Published on Friday, 15th May 2015

This is a new rim from one of our suppliers. They have recreated the 303 Firecrest shape 1:1 but have also increased stiffness and reliability. The material at the nipple holes is 3.5mm thick, where Zipp is only 2mm and is a source of pull-through and cracks. The leading edge is reinforced with a Vectran scrim, and the braking surface is ceramic coated. Altogether, a much improved design and much less cost.

45mm Tubular and Clincher only. Nothing else planned for now. Prices HERE:
